So, I installed ffdshow separately, only checking things related to audio during install. In the k-lite codec pack, there's only "ffdshow VFW interface" and it seems it has nothing to do with audio. So I need to encode this to AC3, by using ffdshow for exemple.
I can play most 5.1 audio format in video just fine, except when it's aac, he-aac (is it the same?), flac and ogg.įrom what I understood, it seems that aac format is encoded in pcm 5.1 which is not compatible with spdif (only stereo). My problem is : I have a PC connected to a 5.1 receiver via spdif. I saw a topic below with someone having a similar problem but the answer wasn't detailed enough and it didn't help me. It's driving me nuts and that's why I decided to ask on an english forum. I posted on several french forums and never got a solution. mpxĪgain, the AC3 file plays just fine in WMP, dbpoweramp recognizes the AC3 file as a valid format for conversion, the conversion to WAV completes without incident but the resulting file is garbled.I'm struggling with this problem for more than a year now.

Windows Media Audio 10 Release 2 (WMA Pro 10) Shorten Release 1 (Shorten Encoder v3.6.0) Here is my configuration profile from dbpoweramp: I am running the latest versions of dbpoweramp (12.1), DirectShow codec, etc. I believe I have the DirectShow codec installed correctly. Dbpoweramp does not report any errors and the conversion "appears" to complete successfully. In other words, it sounds like the playback is about 1/3 the speed. The best way to describe the resulting converted file is it sounds like a 78 RPM record being played at 33.3 RPM (I know, I'm dating myself). When I convert the files from AC3 to any other format (WAV, AAC, etc.) the resulting sound file is garbled.

When I play the original AC3 files in Windows Media Player they sound fine, so I guess this means the AC3Filter software (1.30b) is installed correctly. I have a number of AC3 files I wish to convert to another format.
